Marcel Blunt Sr., CEO & Founder
Marcel Blunt Sr. is a licensed Funeral Director, entrepreneur, and founder of Marcel’s Funeral Services. With over 16 years of experience in the funeral industry, Marcel is deeply committed to providing families with compassionate and excellent care during life’s most tender moments.
Born and raised on Chicago’s West Side, Marcel recognized his calling early in life, first as a six-year-old attending his grandfather’s funeral, and later while riding bikes through his neighborhood, where he often admired the beauty of a local funeral coach. These moments sparked a sense of purpose that never left him.
Marcel attended Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service. He began his professional journey with internships and apprenticeships at renowned Chicago institutions like Johnson’s Funeral Home, Smith & Thomas Funeral Home, and Calahan Funeral Home, eventually serving as a full-time Funeral Director. Marcel later expanded his licensure to Indiana and managed several funeral homes, gaining experience in leadership and trade work across the region.
Becoming a father deepened Marcel’s commitment to legacy, purpose, and service. This personal transformation inspired him to launch Marcel’s Funeral Services—an endeavor rooted in faith, family, and the belief that funeral care is a sacred calling. His work is guided by a simple but powerful promise: personalized funerals tailored to your loved one’s legacy, delivered with care, compassion, and excellence.
